Works 2000: Cannot Import Bitmap Image into Clip Art Gallery (239258)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to insert a bitmap image into a Microsoft Works 2000 document, you may receive the following error message when you import the bitmap image into Clip Art Gallery:
Clip Gallery could not create a preview image for filename.bmp using the installed graphics import filter or media player for that type. The file may be corrupted or incompatible with the filter.
where filename.bmp is the file name of the bitmap image.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you used an incompatible filter when you saved the original bitmap image.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, insert the bitmap image into the Works 2000 document without first importing the image into Clip Art Gallery:

  1. In the Works 2000 document, point to Picture on the Insert menu, and then click From File.
  2. In the Files of type box, click Windows Bitmap (*.bmp;*.dib;*.rle).
  3. Browse to the bitmap image that you want to insert into the Works 2000 document, and then click Open.
