SYMPTOMS

When you type data in a field in any of the "Measurement conversions" templates that are available in your Microsoft Works 2000 Spreadsheet program, the following error message may appear at the bottom of the conversion table:
Warning: You Have Entered More Than One Measurement

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the Works 2000 Spreadsheet protection feature is not turned on for any of the Measurement conversions templates.

This means that even though you are only able to see certain conversion fields, you can potentially type data into cells that you cannot see in the conversion table. This action results in multiple values appearing in the measurement input column. However, you may not be able to see the cell that is causing the issue. The conversion table, therefore, stops performing any measurement conversions and instead displays the error message in red at the bottom of the conversion table.

If you delete the data in the visible conversion field, that particular conversion field may appear to be empty. However, there is data in another cell that you cannot see.

RESOLUTION

You can type data into only one conversion field at any time. Because cell protection is not turned on to prevent you from typing data into other cells, remember to do both of the following to work around this behavior:

  • Type data into only one of the conversion fields, and then press ENTER.

    -and-

  • When the conversion is finished, and you want to type data for another conversion, follow these steps:

    1. Using the mouse, point to the field where you typed the previous data.
    2. Press the DELETE key to delete the data in that field.
    3. Using the mouse, point to the next field in which you want to type the data, and then press ENTER.
    4. Repeat steps 1-3 for as many conversions that you want Works 2000 Spreadsheet to perform.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Works 2000.
