Works 2000: Dialog Box Options Are Unavailable and Font Appears Abnormal (239214)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Works 2000

This article was previously published under Q239214

SYMPTOMS

When you click any command on a menu in any of the Microsoft Works 2000 programs, you may receive an appropriate dialog box, but the font in the dialog box may appear different than normal and some of the options may be unavailable.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if your computer is low on Graphics Device Interface (GDI) memory.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, follow these steps:
  1. Quit all the programs that are open on your computer.
  2. Shut down, turn off, and then restart your computer.

MORE INFORMATION

Graphics operations use GDI memory. Insufficient GDI memory can cause less than optimal performance, particularly where graphics display is concerned.

The operating system may display warning messages when the GDI memory gets too low.
