The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Works 2000

This article was previously published under Q239206

SYMPTOMS

When you type numeric data in a cell in your Microsoft Works 2000 Spreadsheet or in a field in your Works 2000 Database file, and you then press the SPACEBAR, this space may not appear after the numeric data.

For example, if you type 999 followed by a space, Works 2000 may not display the space that appears after the numeric data.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the space following the numeric data is the last entry in the cell or field.

NOTE: If the numeric data is followed by a space, and then more data, the space is sure to appear.

To work around this behavior, follow these steps (using the set appropriate to your operating system).

For Works 2000 Database

  2. Click Add in the Create Database dialog box, and then click Done.
  3. On the File menu, click Open.
  4. In the Open dialog box, browse to select your database file, and then click Open.
  5. Select the field that contains the numeric data.
  6. On the Format menu, click Field.
  7. On the Field tab, click Text in the format pane.
