Works 2000: Print Dialog Box Is Shifted and a Portion of the Text and Dialog Box Is Cut Off (239202)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to print a Microsoft Works 2000 file, the print dialog box may be shifted and some of the text and part of the print dialog box may be cut off.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if one of the following conditions is true:

  • You have set the font size to large fonts.

    -or-

  • You have set the screen size to 640 by 480 pixels.
NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

To determine the current settings for your computer, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start on your Microsoft Windows desktop.
  2. Click Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click the Display icon.
  3. In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab. Look in the Screen area section to determine your current screen size.
  4. Click Advanced, and then look in the Font Size box to determine your current font size.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, you need to change the settings described in the "Cause" section.

NOTE: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.

Steps to Set the Font Size to Small Fonts

  1. Click Start on your Windows desktop.
  2. Click Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click the Display icon.
  3. In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.
  4. In the Font Size box, select Small Fonts.

    The Change System Font dialog box appears with a message similar to this:

    Changes in the system font will only take effect after the fonts have been installed and Windows has been restarted.

  5. Click OK, and then in the Display Properties dialog box, click OK again.
  6. Restart your computer to allow the changes to take effect.

Steps to Change the Screen Size

  1. Click Start on your Windows desktop.
  2. Click Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click the Display icon.
  3. In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.
  4. In the Display Area box, move the slider to the right to increase the screen size to 800 by 600 pixels.

    A Display Settings dialog box appears with a message similar to this:

    You have not tried these new settings successfully. Please press the Test button to preview this new graphics mode. If you want to keep this selection anyway, choose OK.

  5. Click OK.
