The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Works 2000

This article was previously published under Q239153

SYMPTOMS

When you enter text into the header or footer of a Microsoft Works 2000 Word Processor document, and the text is too long to fit into the header or footer, the insertion point may disappear after the last line of visible text.

When you press the UP ARROW key, the insertion point does not reappear.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the UP ARROW key does not "know" where to place the insertion point.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, use one of the following methods.

Method 1

Press the LEFT ARROW key to place the insertion point at the end of the last line of text.

Method 2

Press CTRL+HOME to place the insertion point at the beginning of the first line of text.

Method 3

Use the mouse to place the insertion point anywhere in the header or footer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Works 2000.
