VIZACT: 256 Color Mode or Higher Required for Vizact to Run (238826)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to start Microsoft Vizact, you get the following error message:
Microsoft Vizact

You must be running 256 color mode or higher. You can change the color depth from the control panel display icon.
After you click OK, the program quits.

CAUSE

Vizact requires a color depth of 256 colors or greater. Although the box states that VGA is required, not all color depths of VGA will work.

NOTE: Although the retail product box of Vizact 2000 states that VGA or higher resolution is required, if you are running in standard, 16 color VGA, you will not be able to run Microsoft Vizact.

MORE INFORMATION

In order to run Microsoft Vizact, you must increase the number of colors to 256 or higher. To do this, use the following method:
  1. On the Windows Start menu, point to Settings, and choose Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Display.
  3. Click the Settings tab.
  4. Change the setting under Color Palette to 256 colors or greater.
  5. If you are using Windows NT, click Test to test the color settings. If you are using Windows 95/98, skip this step.
  6. Click Ok.
  7. If you are prompted to restart, restart your computer, and then restart Vizact.
