XIMS: After Setting a Channel Limit on an Invite Only Channel, Users Can Be Invited After Join Limit Is Reached (236948)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 SP2
- Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 SP3
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q236948 SYMPTOMS
A chat user creates an Invite Only channel and sets a member limit for the channel; however, they can still invite other chat users after the channel has reached its capacity.
STATUS
This behavior is by design. An official invitation allows the invited user to enter a channel despite: - The channel's member limits (but not the server-wide channel member limit).
- A channel ban on the user that is invited.
- The fact that a non-authenticated user may enter if invited by a host.
- The existence of a keyword.
MORE INFORMATION
Server-wide channel member limit settings (for dynamic channels) are still checked and applied.
