SYMPTOMS

After you delete a persistent chat channel and recreate one with the same name, you may notice that the channel transcription setting Transcribe this Channel is set to On instead of its default setting of Off.

CAUSE

The transcript option retains the last setting prior to its being deleted. The problem is that the channel transcription settings are stored in a file called %systemroot%\Tscript.cfg. This file does not automatically get deleted after the channel is deleted.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, perform one of the following steps:
  • Delete Tscript.cfg after deleting the persistent channel and prior to recreating the new persistent channel with the same name. -or-

  • If you do not want channel transcription turned on for the newly created channel:
    1. Right-click on the new channel from within the chat Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in, click Properties, and click the Extensions tab.
    2. Select Tscript, and click Properties.
    3. Clear the Transcribe this Channel check box, and click OK to confirm the change.

MORE INFORMATION
