VIZACT: Unable to Select Object Outside of Text Box Region (236677)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Vizact 2000

This article was previously published under Q236677

SYMPTOMS

If you have an object, such as an Autoshape, inside a text box, but you then position the Autoshape so that it is outside of the text box, you cannot see or select the Autoshape.

CAUSE

Vizact enables you to position an object that is inside of a text box outside of the visible portion of the text box so that you can then apply effects to bring the object into the text box.

MORE INFORMATION

You can still select the item even if it is hidden outside the boundaries of the text box by using one of the following methods.

Method 1: Use the TAB Key to Move to the Other Object

  1. If you do not already have another selectable Autoshape in your text box, insert an Autoshape.
  2. Select the Autoshape that you just inserted.
  3. Press the TAB key to move to the next object.
  4. Keep pressing the Tab key until you cycle to the object that you want to select.
  5. If you do not need it, delete the Autoshape that you inserted in step 1.

Method 2: Change the Size of the Text Box

  1. Select the text box that you are working with.
  2. Resize the text box. Make the text box as large as necessary to see all the objects that you need to gain access to.
  3. Select the object that you want to modify.
