Internet Explorer for Unix Hangs on Solaris SPARC Computer (236381)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to start Internet Explorer for Sun Solaris on your multiprocessor workstation running Solaris 2.6, some or all processes associated with your login, including Window Manager, may stop responding (hang).

CAUSE

The issue occurs because of a limitation in the Solaris version 2.6 operating system.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, obtain one of the following patches from Sun Microsystems:
  • For Solaris 2.5.1, patch 103566-39+ is required.
  • For Solaris 2.6, patch 105633-32+ is required.
  • For Solaris 2.7, patch 107078-10+ is required.
These patches and their corresponding Readme files can be obtained from Sun Microsystem's Web site (http://www.sun.com/). If you do not have a Sun service contract with access to the complete patch collection, you must contact Sun to obtain the appropriate patch.

Note that the patch revision numbers may be changed by Sun at any time.
