Err Msg: Not Enough Storage Is Available to Process This Command (236023)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0

This article was previously published under Q236023

SYMPTOMS

When you add Granted or Restricted Domains to the Domain Filter list in the Proxy Server Administration Manager, the following error message occurs:
Not enough storage is available to process this command

CAUSE

The Proxy Domain Filters are stored in the registry on the Proxy Server computer. When this error message occurs, it normally means that you have reached the limit of the number of Domains you can add to the Domain Filter list. The number of Domain Filters that can be added will vary depending on the Domain name length.

WORKAROUND

The Proxy Domain Filter feature is intended for light usage. To restore normal operation, you must remove some of the filters from the list. If your configuration requires a large number of Domain Filters that exceed the number supported by the built-in functionality in Proxy Server, Microsoft recommends reviewing the third-party Microsoft Proxy Server 2.0 filter plug-ins currently available. For more information, please see the following Web page: The third-party products discussed here are manufactured by vendors independent of Microsoft; we make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding these product's performance or reliability.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a limitation in Proxy Server version 2.0.
