SYMPTOMS

When you open the MSCAM tool in Microsoft Office 97 after you install Microsoft Internet Explorer 5, you may receive the following error message:
MSCAM performed an Invalid Page Fault in AVICAP.DLL.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you have an STB Velocity 4400 display adapter installed in your computer.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, uninstall Internet Explorer 5.

NOTE: If you are running Windows 98 Second Edition you cannot uninstall Internet Explorer 5. To resolve this issue in Windows 98 Second Edition, use a different video adapter.
