FIX: Visual J++ Debugging Fails with Windows 2000 Beta 3 (234209)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to debug a Java Applet or Application with Visual J++ 6.0 on Microsoft Windows 2000 beta 3, you may experience one or more of the following problems:
  • When debugging an applet with Internet Explorer, the applet hangs.
  • When debugging an applet with WJView, the applet fails with a java.lang.NullPointerException message in the status bar.
  • When debugging a Windows Foundation Classes (WFC) application, the debugger fails to launch the debugee.
The applet or application runs as expected when launched outside of the Visual J++ debugger.

RESOLUTION

Windows 2000 has been released and is no longer in Beta. Users are encouraged to install the released version of Windows 2000.
