SBCM: ErrMsg: "Cannot find the security file" Opening Database File (234107)

SYMPTOMS

If you attempt to open a database file created by Microsoft Small Business Forms Manager 97 (SBFM 97), using Microsoft Small Business Customer Manager (SBCM), you will receive the following error message:
Cannot find the security file for the database you selected. The security file must be in the same directory as the database. Move the file to the following location and try again.

CAUSE

There is no security file. This error message is incorrect. SBFM 97 files are not compatible with SBCM. There is no utility to convert or import SBFM 97 files into SBCM. You must use your original accounting data to create a new SBCM database.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
