When you try to print to a Canon BJC 50 printer using the printer's infrared (IrDA) port from a laptop computer with IrDA support, garbled or blank pages may be printed.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the laptop computer has an IrDA 1.1 port but the printer has an IrDA 1.0 port.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, set the computer's IrDA port to version 1.0 in the computer's BIOS settings. If this option is not available, obtain the latest BIOS revision from the manufacturer, or use the following workaround.
To work around this behavior, limit the computer's IrDA port to 56 Kbps or slower. Note that this will cause print jobs to be printed more slowly. To limit the IrDA port's connection speed:
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Infrared.
- Click the Options tab, click the lower speed in the Limit Connection Speed To box, click OK, and then close Control Panel.
