FIX: Cannot Link OLAP Servers in SQL Server Enterprise Linked Server (233491)

SYMPTOMS

If you use Enterprise Manager to link an OLAP Services 7.0 server to a SQL Server 7.0 server and then you click Tables, under the created linked server folder, an error occurs. If the SQL Server is running under the local system account, the following message displays:
Initialization of the dynamic link library C:\WINNT\system32\USER32.dll failed.
The process is terminating abnormally.
When SQL Server is not running under the local system account, the following message appears:
Error 7302: Could not create an instance of OLE DB provider 'MSOLAP'.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server 7.0. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 1 for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
