SYMPTOMS

When e-mail is not delivered to some recipients, the SMTP generates a non-delivery report (NDR) with the description "Routing table database transaction failed."

CAUSE

This problem may be caused by one of the following:

An error in the Mcis2upd.sql script that released with Site Server 3.0 Service Pack 2.SQL Server 7.0 null-syntax handling is different than SQL Server 6.5.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Site Server 3.0. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Site Server 3.0 Service Pack 3.
