SYMPTOMS

After you uninstall Windows 98 Second Edition, some of your long file names may be converted to short file names in the 8.3 format. For example, a file named "My Resume.doc" may be displayed as Myresu~1.doc.

CAUSE

This issue can occur when there is delay during the long file name restoration process.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, wait until your long file names are restored, and if this does not resolve the issue, restart your computer.
