SUMMARY

Because FrontPage 2000 now gives you direct access to sub webs through the parent web, you can delete a web in many ways. This article describes the methods you can use to delete a web.

Note: If you are using the FrontPage Personal Web server instead of the Microsoft Personal web server you will need to follow Method 3.

Method 3: Adding the Delete Web Command to Menus

The Delete Web menu command will delete the web you currently have open, not the one you have selected in Folder view.
  1. On the Tools menu, click Customize.
  2. Click the Commands tab.
  3. Click to select the File category, and scroll the commands column to Delete Web.
  4. Use the drag technique to move the command out of the window to any toolbar or menu.
  5. Click Close on the lower right of the Customize dialog box.
  6. Open the Web you want to delete.
  7. Click Delete Web on the toolbar or menu you moved it to in step four.
NOTE: There is no way to delete a root web within FrontPage, because the web server must have access to its document root directory. To delete a root web, you may delete all the files from within the root web, then use the FrontPage Server Extensions administration tools to remove the FrontPage server extensions. When the FrontPage server extensions have been removed from the web server, you will no longer be able to open the web server directly in FrontPage.
