PRJ98: Project Stops Responding When Opening the Change Working Time Dialog Box (231442)

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project 98, when you click Change Working Time on the Tools menu, you may receive the following error message:

In Windows 95/98

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
If you click Details, you receive the following error message:
WINPROJ caused an invalid page fault in module WINPROJ.EXE at address

In Windows NT

An Application Error has occurred and an application error log is being generated.

Winproj.exe
Exception access Violation (oxc0000005), Address: address
Where address is a memory address.

CAUSE

The behavior occurs when you do the following in the Resource Sheet view:

  • You select a row that is more than five blank rows below the last resource.

    -and-

  • On the Tools menu, you click Change Working Time.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, select either a resource or the first row in the Resource Sheet before you display the Change Working Time dialog box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
