SYMPTOMS
When you start Microsoft FrontPage 2000, the following error message appears:
Cannot load OLEAUT32.DLL.
When you start Microsoft PowerPoint 2000, the following error message appears:
PowerPoint found an error that it can't correct. You should save presentations, quit, and then restart PowerPoint.
When you start Microsoft Excel 2000 and have add-ins loaded, the following error message appears:

RESOLUTION
Give
Read and
Read & Execute permissions to the Windows NT user group
Everyone for the file Oleaut32.dll.
NOTE: The Access Control List (ACL) editor is modified after installing the Security Configuration Manager for Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 4.

To do this, follow the steps below.
- Log on as a member of the Administrators group.
- Click Start, point to Programs, and click Windows NT Explorer.
- Using Windows NT Explorer, browse to the C:\Winnt\System32 folder to display the contents of the System32 folder in the right pane.
- Click to select Oleaut32.dll.
- Click Properties on the File menu, and then click the Security tab.
- Click Add.
- Type Everyone in the Add Names box of the Add Users and Groups dialog box and click OK.
- In the Allow column, select Read & Execute and Read when Everyone is selected. Click OK.
- Log off and log on as the user you want.
