257824 OL2000: Differences Between Outlook and Outlook Express

SYMPTOMS

When you use Outlook Express, and you type an address in the To field of an e-mail message in the form of "lastname, firstname" (without the quotation marks), the name that you type resolves as two separate e-mail addresses.

CAUSE

Outlook Express recognizes the comma as an address separator. You cannot disable commas as address separators in Outlook Express.

RESOLUTION

You can turn on or off the use of commas to separate e-mail addresses if you upgrade to a full-featured e-mail program, such as Microsoft Outlook 98 or Microsoft Outlook 2000.
