This article was previously published under Q229098 SYMPTOMS
A computer running Windows NT Server 4.0 acting as an AppleTalk zone
router may not reply to a ZIP query from an AppleTalk client on the
local LAN.
This manifests itself on the Macintosh client as an incomplete or empty
lists of resources (for example, printers) being returned when querying
for resources on the network.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the AppleTalk stack only replies to a ZIP
query if the network address supplied in the query matched the first
network address in the range supported by the local zone.
To work properly, the AppleTalk stack needs to reply if the network
address is any valid address within the whole range supported by the
zone.
