SUMMARY

Microsoft has created a PowerPoint add-in that automatically changes the default view in Microsoft PowerPoint 2000 from the new, normal view (tri-pane view), to slide view (the default view in Microsoft PowerPoint 97 and earlier).

Note This add-in has the same effect as holding down CTRL and clicking the Slide View button on the QuickView toolbar (in the lower-left corner of the PowerPoint window).

Microsoft scanned this file for viruses. Microsoft used the most current virus-detection software that was available on the date that the file was posted. The file is stored on security-enhanced servers that help to prevent any unauthorized changes to the file. When you double-click the SlideViewOpen.exe file, it extracts the SlideViewOpen.ppa file to a folder that you choose. Microsoft recommends that you place the SlideViewOpen.ppa file in the following folder:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office

How to Set Up the Add-in

To set up the add-in, follow these steps:
  1. Start Microsoft PowerPoint. If you see the startup dialog box, click Cancel.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Add-Ins.
  3. Click Add New.
  4. Locate and select the SlideViewOpen.ppa file, and then click OK.
Any time you open an existing PowerPoint presentation, or create a new PowerPoint presentation, the view changes to the default slide view of PowerPoint 97.
