This article was previously published under Q226384

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade from Microsoft Windows 95/98 to Windows 2000, some or all of the additional tabs that were installed by a third-party video driver in the Display tool in Control Panel may be missing. These extra tabs may have previously enabled extra functionality or provided the ability to change certain features of your video adapter.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the third-party video drivers you used with Windows 95/98 are not written or designed for use with Windows 2000. Note that most video adapter drivers do not work with both Windows 95/98 and Windows 2000.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, obtain and install the most current version of video driver for your video adapter that is compatible with Windows 2000. For information about how to do so, view the documentation included with your video adapter, or contact the manufacturer of your video adapter.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
