Upgrading Windows NT 4.0 Changes Boot.ini to the Default Time-Out Value (226043)

When you upgrade to Windows 2000 from Microsoft Windows NT Server 4.0, the time-out value in the Boot.ini file reverts to the default value of 30 seconds.
CAUSE
The Windows 2000 upgrade process changes this value in the Boot.ini file.
RESOLUTION
To change the time-out value to the setting you want:
- Right-click My Computer on the desktop, and then click Properties.
- On the Advanced tab, click Startup and Recovery.
- Change the value in the Display list of operating systems for N seconds to the value you want, in seconds.
- Click OK, and then click OK.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
