The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server 4.0
  • Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server 4.0a
  • Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server 4.5

This article was previously published under Q225307

SYMPTOMS

If you do not install Microsoft Script Debugger when you install Microsoft Windows NT Option Pack on Small Business Server (SBS) 4.0a, when you upgrade to SBS 4.5, Script Debugger is not added.

When you run Setup from SBS 4.5 CD 1, Windows NT Option Pack is listed as not being installed. Continuing Setup does not install the Script Debugger program.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because SBS Setup shows Windows NT Option Pack as not being installed because Script Debugger is not present. Script Debugger does not install because the other components already exist.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server 4.0, 4.0a, 4.5.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, upgrade an SBS 4.0a computer that does not have Windows NT Option Pack installed to SBS 4.5. This allows SBS 4.5 Windows NT Option Pack Setup to install the Script Debugger program.

MORE INFORMATION

Script Debugger is an added feature of Windows NT Option Pack and is not required for normal operation of SBS 4.5.
