SYMPTOMS
After you start a Windows NT 4.0-based computer that is running Services for Macintosh (SFM), the following error messages may be listed in Event Viewer:
Event ID: 10022
Source: MacFile
Type: Error
Message:
The helper thread was unable to send the list of trusted domains to the Appletalk Filing Protocol file system driver
Event ID: 10027
Source: MacFile
Type: Error
Description:
A Critical error occurred while initializing a helper thread.
Event ID: 10001
Source: MacFile
Type: Error
Message:
Unable to start File Server for Macintosh service.
RESOLUTION
A supported fix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to computers that are experiencing this specific problem.

To work around this problem, upgrade the Windows NT 4.0-based computer to Windows 2000, convert your domain back to use only Windows NT 4.0-based computers.
