OL2000: Uninstalling Outlook Does Not Remove the Quick Launch Icon (224840)

SYMPTOMS

When you install Outlook, the setup program places an icon on the Quick Launch bar. Uninstalling Outlook does not remove this icon.

RESOLUTION

Manually remove the icon.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

To remove a Quick Launch icon, right-click it and click Delete on the shortcut menu.

If you have profiles on your computer, the Quick Launch icons are stored in the following folder by default:

Windows\Profiles\<profile name>\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch

If you do not have profiles on your computer, the Quick Launch icons are stored in the following folder by default:

Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
