SYMPTOMS

When you access the AutoDial Configuration "Credentials" property sheet in the Proxy Server 2.0 Web or Winsock properties, the following error may occur:
Failed to find AutoDial Configuration

RESOLUTION

Installing (or reinstalling) the Proxy Server 2.0 Combined Hotfix addresses this error in some cases. Combined Hotfix information can be found in the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

If this fails to correct the problem, create the following registry key. To do this, perform the following steps:

WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
  1. Start Registry Editor (Regedit.exe).
  2. Locate the following key in the registry:

    HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft

  3. Highlight "Microsoft" (without the quotation marks).
  4. On the Edit menu, click New, select Key, and then name this key "RAS Phonebook" (without the quotation marks).
  5. Quit Registry Editor.
If you do not (re)install the combined hotfix, then you do not need to reboot or restart your WWW or Proxy Server services.
