WD2000: Invalid Page Fault Saving File to Disk in Word 6.0/95 Format (224725)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to save a Word 2000 document in Word 6.0/95 format to a floppy disk that is nearly full, you may receive the following error message:

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

When you click Details, the following error message is displayed:

WINWORD caused an invalid page fault in module MSO9.DLL.

When you save a Word 2000 document in Word 6.0/95 format, save the document to your hard disk and then copy the document to the floppy disk.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
