WD2000: Cannot Use a Web Page As a Data Source in a Word Mail Merge (224654)

SYMPTOMS

If you try to merge a data source saved as a Web page (*.htm) to your mail merge main document, when you click Insert Merge Field, Word shows only one entry as a merge field, similar to the following:

WORKAROUND

Use one of the following methods to use the Web page as a data source in a Word mail merge.

Method 1: Don't Use Select Method

When you attach the Web page to your mail merge main document, do not select the Select Method check box (in the Open Data Source dialog box).

Method 2: Save the Web Page As a Word Document

Save your Web page data source as a Word document, and then use it as a data source in your Word mail merge.
