WD2000: Check Box (Field) Lost Viewing As Web Page (224652)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word 2000

This article was previously published under Q224652

SYMPTOMS

When you open a Web page (or view your Word document in Web Page Preview) created from a fax template or from the Fax Wizard, check boxes (for example, Urgent or For Review) are lost.

For example, a new document based on the Contemporary Fax template does not show or include the check boxes in Web Page Preview (on the File menu) or after you open the Web page in your browser.

CAUSE

In the fax template, in order to create a selected or unselected check box, a MACROBUTTON field is used. When the document or Web page is viewed in a Web browser, the result of the field is not shown or printed. This functionality is by design.

For additional information about limitations in viewing a Web page, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

For more information about limitations when you save as a Web page, click Microsoft Word Help on the Help menu, type What are the results when I save as a Web page? in the Office Assistant or the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topic.
