WD2000: Form Incompletely Pasted by Using Drag-and-Drop Operation (224617)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word 2000

This article was previously published under Q224617

SYMPTOMS

When you use a drag-and-drop operation to move a form from one document to another, the line representing the bottom of the form is not pasted into the destination file, but the text "bottom of form" is pasted as normal (not hidden) text.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the form you are copying appears at the end of the file just before the last paragraph mark in the document. When you copy a selection that is associated with the last paragraph mark, Word does not paste all of the formatting properties associated with it.

WORKAROUND

Make sure the selection you want to copy is not terminated with the last paragraph mark in the document. To do this, go to the end of your file (press CTRL+END) and then press ENTER one time. Now, when you copy the form, all of its properties are copied.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
