OL2000: (CW) Unspecified Error Sending Document as Attachment (223626)

NOTE: The procedures in this article only apply if you have installed Outlook with the Corporate or Workgroup option. With this option, you can use Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) services. To determine your installation type, click About Microsoft Outlook on the Help menu. If you have the Corporate or Workgroup installation, you see "Corporate or Workgroup".

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to send a Microsoft Word 2000 document as an e-mail attachment, you receive the following error message:

Word couldn't send mail because of MAPI error: "Unspecified error".

CAUSE

You quit Outlook, closing the current MAPI session, and Word could not connect to that MAPI session.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, choose one of the following methods:

Method 1

Restart Outlook, and then send the document from Word.

Method 2

Save and close your document, quit and restart Word, and then send the document again.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
