ACC2000: Show Table Button Enabled But Show Table Dialog Box Is Not Displayed (223238)

SYMPTOMS

In a Database Diagram or View, the Show Table button is enabled but the Show Table dialog box is not displayed.

CAUSE

This will occur when, with a data access page open in Design view, you open the Field List window, and then switch focus to a Database Diagram or View.

RESOLUTION

Click the Show Table button twice and the Show Table dialog box will appear. Once open, the dialog box will continue to be displayed when the Show Table button is enabled until you close and re-open the Access project.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Open the sample Access project NorthwindCS.adp.
  2. Create a new page in Design view.
  3. Close the Field List window if it is open.
  4. Create a new Database Diagram.
  5. Set focus to the page that you created in step 2.
  6. Click Field List on the Page Design toolbar.
  7. Change focus to the Database Diagram that you created in step 4.
Note that the Show Table dialog box is not displayed but that the Show Table button is enabled.
