OL2000: (CW) Outlook Stops Responding After Opening Word RTF E-mail Message (222359)

SYMPTOMS
When you receive a Rich Text formatted message created with Microsoft Word as the e-mail editor, your system may stop responding, or system response may be slow until you force Outlook.exe to shut down in the Task Manager.
CAUSE
This problem occurs with messages that contain an OCX control embedded inside a table, under the following conditions:
- You are using Outlook in Corporate or Workgroup (CW) configuration.
- You copy an HTML page that contains a table with an embedded OCX control.
- You create a new Rich Text formatted message using Word as your e-mail editor.
- You paste the HTML page into the new message.
- You send the message and the recipient opens the message.
RESOLUTION
To avoid this problem, use HTML as your e-mail format when pasting HTML pages into new Word e-mail messages.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
