OL2000: Can't Link to More Than One Contact with the Same Name (222290)

SYMPTOMS

You cannot link an appointment to two different contacts with the same name.

RESOLUTION

Make each contact name unique.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

If you attempt to link an appointment with two contacts with the same name, one of the contacts will not be linked.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. Create two contact records with the same name.
  2. Open a new appointment record and click Contacts in the lower-left corner of the form.
  3. In Select Contacts, click to select the Contacts folder from the upper pane.
  4. Hold down the SHIFT key and click to select both the contacts with the same name, and then click OK.
Only one of the contacts will appear in the Contact field of the appointment.
