  • Microsoft Outlook 2000

This article was previously published under Q222262

SYMPTOMS

If you use Outlook on Windows Terminal Server and attempt to export your Outlook data to the Timex Data Link watch, the CRT Mode 5 - DOS Framed or CRT Mode 3 - DOS Fast Framed settings fail to initialize. When you attempt to calibrate the watch you receive the following error message:
The video device failed to initialize for fullscreen mode. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
You are presented with Close and Ignore buttons. The Ignore button does not permit you to continue and the Close button closes the DOS window and returns you to the calibration wizard.

CAUSE

Terminal Server cannot display the full DOS screen mode.

RESOLUTION

Use the CRT Mode 4 - Windows Framed mode to calibrate your watch. Additionally, you will need a very fast and reliable connection (greater then 28.8 kbps) to the Terminal Server in order to export information to the watch.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
