This article was previously published under Q222216

SUMMARY

When you reply to a message that is formatted as Plain Text, the body of the original message is not indented. This occurs even if you selected the option to Include and indent original message text, in the E-mail Options dialog box. The same behavior occurs for forwarded messages.

MORE INFORMATION

The Plain Text message format does not provide paragraph formatting and there are no styles for indenting the body of this type of message. If you want this feature you must use one of the other messages formats, such as Rich Text. To change the format after you click Reply, on the Format menu, click Rich Text (HTML). If you select the original message in the body, you can use the Increase Indent button to indent the original message.
