FIX: C0000005 Fatal Error with CLEAR DEBUGGER and SUSPEND (221687)

SYMPTOMS

When you run a form from a program that contains CLEAR DEBUGGER and SUSPEND commands, the program suspends on the SUSPEND line. When you resume and run the same program again, Visual FoxPro terminates after displaying the following error:
Fatal error: Exception code=C0000005
Called from - <procedure name and line number> {<path and filename>}

The procedure name and line number will contain the method or procedure containing the SUSPEND command, and the line number of the line following the SUSPEND command. The path and filename will contain the path and filename of the file containing the method or procedure.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Run the following code from a program (.PRG) file:
    CLEAR DEBUGGER
    PUBLIC oform1
    oform1=CREATEOBJECT("form")
    oform1.SHOW
    SUSPEND
    x = 1
    _SCREEN.SHOW()
    					
  2. Press the F5 key in the Debugger window to resume.
  3. Run the program again and note that the fatal error occurs.
