SUMMARY

Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ) Site Controllers, Routing Servers, and Independent Clients can be installed and configured for failover on Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS) clusters. This provides high availability of your MSMQ service. This configuration is supported only if MSMQ is clustered on both computers.

MORE INFORMATION

MSMQ must be installed after MSCS. If MSMQ is present before MSCS is installed then MSMQ must be uninstalled and then reinstalled after MSCS is installed on both nodes.

From the "Windows NT Server, Enterprise Edition Administrator's Guide and Release Notes":

If Microsoft Cluster Server (MSCS) is installed, you can only install MSMQ servers and independent clients as fail safe services - you cannot install them without configuring them as MSCS resources.
