Starting Manage Server: What Application Would You Like to Use to Open the Program? (220850)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to start Manage Server, a dialog box appears on the screen with the following question:
What application would you like to use to open the program?
A list of known application types with which to associate the program also appears on the screen. An outline for the console is drawn on the screen but it is empty.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, perform the following steps:
  1. In Control Panel, use Add/Remove Programs to remove Microsoft Active Server Pages, and then reinstall the Active Server pages as described in step 2 of the Resolution section of the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    186388 Restoring Console after Removing and Reinstalling IIS/ASP

  2. If the step above does not work, use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and remove Microsoft BackOffice Small Business Server. To reinstall, click Start, click Run, type STARTSAM, and then click OK.
