PRB: Deployment or New Deployment Target Creation Brings Error (220843)

SYMPTOMS

When you create a new Deployment Target in Visual InterDev 6.0, the following error message may appear:
Microsoft Development Environment is unable to contact the requested network server. Either the target does not exist, or it is currently unreachable.

Choose "OK" to save target information, or "Cancel" to dismiss target information.
Or, when deploying Web content, controls, and applets with Visual InterDev 6.0 Deployment Explorer, you may receive the following error in the Task List:
Failed to deploy a file(C:\TEMP\ADOUTILS.ASP): The Web server returned the following error: Server Error.

CAUSE

The Visual InterDev 6.0 Deployment Explorer requires installation of either the Microsoft FrontPage server extensions or the Microsoft Posting Acceptor on the target system.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
