WD2000: Web Page Templates Default to Organizing Support Files in a Folder When Saving HTML (220401)

When you create HTML pages with the Web page templates supplied with Office, you may notice the Web options setting for organizing supporting files in a folder is set back to its default.
By default, Word stores all supporting files such as bullets, background textures, and graphics in a separate folder when you save the Web page.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use one of the following methods that best suits your needs.
Method 1: Reset the Organize Files in a Folder Setting
Use the following steps to manually change the Organize supporting files in a folder setting when creating new files based on sample Web pages templates:
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the General tab, click Web Options.
- On the Files tab in the Web Options dialog box, clear the check box next to Organize supporting files in a folder, and click OK.
- Click OK.
Method 2: Modify the Web Pages Templates
Use the following steps to modify a Web page template to ensure that all supporting files are stored in the same folder as the Web page you save.
- In Word, click Open on the File menu.
- In the Open dialog box, change the Look in box to the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033 - Click to select one of the sample Web page templates and then click Open.
Office supplies the follow sample Web page templates:
Column with Contents.htm
Frequently Asked Questions.htm
Left-aligned Column.htm
Right-aligned Column.htm
Simple Layout.htm
Table of Contents.htm
- On the Tools menu, click Options.
- On the General tab, click Web Options.
- On File tab in the Web Options dialog box, clear the check box next to Organize supporting files in a folder , and click OK.
- Click OK.
- Click Save on the File menu to save the changes to the template.
