This article was previously published under Q220329 SYMPTOMS
When you prepare a fax using the Microsoft Word Fax Wizard and the Outlook Internet Mail Only (IMO) with Symantec Fax Starter Edition, you may be prompted repeatedly for the recipient's fax number.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use one of the following methods that best suits your needs.
Method 1: Turn the Fax Cover Sheet Option Off in the Fax Wizard
This produces a single item to fax from the Fax Wizard. Symantec Fax Starter Edition then provides the only cover sheet; however, Symantec Fax Starter Edition will prompt for the recipient's fax number in addition to the Fax Wizard. - To start the Fax Wizard:
On the File menu, point to Send To, and then click Fax Recipient.
-or-
Click New on the File menu, click the Letters & Faxes tab, and double-click the Fax Wizard. - When you are in the Fax Wizard and are prompted for Which document do you want to send?, click to select the Without a cover sheet check box.
- Complete the remaining steps in the Fax Wizard to finish.
Method 2: Print with Symantec Fax Starter Edition Instead of the Word Fax Wizard
This produces a single item to fax and requires the recipient's information only once in the process.
- Open or create a document to send to a recipient in Word.
- On the File menu, click Print.
- Change the printer Name: box to Symantec Fax Starter Edition and click OK to print.
- When a new Untitled - Fax (Plain Text) message appears, select a contact from the Address book for the To: box, or type a recipient's fax number using the following syntax:
where ##### is the fax phone number of the recipient.
- Click Send to begin sending the fax.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
