XADM: MTSIDs Are Generated With Two Different Characters as Delimiters (218962)

SYMPTOMS

Currently, Exchange Server uses the following two characters as delimiters in creating the MTSID of messages:
  • The semi-colon character (;). For example:

    c=US;a= ;p=MyCompany;l=MyServer-981215155334Z-2

  • The slash character (/). For example:

    c=US/a= /p=MyCompany/l=MyServer-981215155598Z-2

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Exchange Server version 5.5. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Exchange Server 5.5 Service Pack 3.

To be consistent, Exchange Server is modified to only use the semi-colon character. For example:
