PUB2000: Rotated EPS Picture Appears Flipped On Screen (218667)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Publisher 2000

This article was previously published under Q218667

SYMPTOMS

When you import an encapsulated PostScript (.eps) file that contains an embedded bitmap (.bmp) preview image, and then rotate the image to the left or right, the image is also flipped vertically in the publication.

When you print the publication, the image on the printout is not flipped.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Microsoft Publisher incorrectly reads the point of origin for the rotated bitmap image.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, import an .eps file that does not contain an embedded .bmp preview image. Most .eps export filters can save an .eps file with an embedded .wmf or .tiff preview image.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
