PUB2000: EPS File Displays in Full Color in Spot Color Mode (218640)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Publisher 2000

This article was previously published under Q218640

SYMPTOMS

EPS files that are inserted into Publisher 2000 may be displayed in full color, even though the publication is set up for spot color. Other picture files may display normally.

CAUSE

This behavior will occur when you use the Drag and Drop or Cut and Paste commands to insert an EPS picture into Publisher or from another applications.

RESOLUTION

To workaround this problem, use one of the following methods:

Method 1: Insert From File

Insert the EPS file by clicking Insert, pointing to Picture, then clicking From File.

Method 2: Ungroup the EPS File

If you are copying the EPS image from another Microsoft Office application, you can ungroup the EPS file before you paste it into Publisher. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Select the EPS image.
  2. Right-click on the picture object, point to Grouping, then click Ungroup.

NOTE: EPS printing information will be lost using this method, but the picture will insert and print in the Spot Color publication.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
